Described as “absolutely impressive, arguably one of the most powerful and beautiful baritone voices you could hear” (TheSideBalcony), Lucia has previously performed with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Il Teatro Regio, Daegu Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, Opera Santa Barbara, Sacramento Opera – and as a permanent member of the Staatstheatre Karlsruhe in Germany.

In May 2019, Lucia makes her mainstage US debut in the title role of Don Giovanni for Tulsa Opera’s 71st season, titled “An Era of Inclusion.” This appearance marks the first time a trans woman has performed a principal role on the operatic stage in the US. On her website, Lucia remarks that she “is adept at playing men and is always happy to play a man onstage (so long as she doesn’t have to play one in real life).”

In an interview with NBC News, Lucia shared her excitement about her US and Tulsa Opera debut: “I left my home country to perfect my craft, and I can’t wait to come home to share it with Tulsa,” she said. “In addition to simply my debut, I can’t wait to show off what I have learned over the 10 years since I left to pursue my career.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”3248″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][heading text=”Press Spotlight” align=”left” lines=”none” css=”.vc_custom_1541107852272{margin-bottom: 15px !important;}” size=”2.5em”][vc_column_text]Breakthrough: First US opera role for a trans woman
