Who can participate in Spotlight? What skill level is required?

Singers aged 15 and up with an interest in singing opera, classical music, and musical theater are welcome to attend. Professional track, opera-adjacent, and avocational singers are welcome and encouraged. This is a very intensive program and you must be able to read, learn, and memorize music on your own.

What are the audition requirements?

3 – 5 opera or oratorio arias (aria antiche, i.e. the 24 Italian Songs & Arias, count!), classical art songs, and/or musical theatre pieces may be used for auditions. We strongly encourage you to choose the pieces that best show off your current skill level and that you feel great singing! If you would like to be considered for a leading role, at least 2 of your selections should be opera arias.
