Today’s special Staying Alive performance is in celebration of Global Pride. Baritone Lucia Lucas sings “Pietà, rispetto, amore” from Macbeth by Giuseppe Verdi. She is accompanied by Lyndon Meyer.
Lucia Lucas astounded Tulsa audiences in 2019 when she made her mainstage US debut singing the title role in Tulsa Opera’s production of Don Giovanni.
“Pietà, rispetto, amore” is an aria from the final act of Macbeth. Macbeth, upon learning that an army is advancing against him, knows that even if he wins the battle, he will never have the compassion, honor, and love normally bestowed on a king. Rather, because he’s so hated and feared already, only curses await him in his old age.
