Education and Engagement Manager
Tulsa Opera seeks an education- and community-minded individual to join their team in a new role, Education and Engagement Manager. The Education and Engagement Manager is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Artistic Director and the Director of Community Engagement. Salary range is $40,000-$50,000 commensurate with experience. Responsibilities:

- Artistic and Education
- Performing Groups
- Music preparation at rehearsals, communication, attendance tracking, and Tessitura input for community-based music groups.
- Communication with artistic partners.
- Audition organization and management.
- Recruitment of local and regional artists for community-based music groups.
- Assist the artistic team with repertoire selection, artistic programming, and collaboration with community arts organizations.
- Raise Your Voice Tour
- Supervise music preparation in partnership with the Artistic Director.
- Recruitment and sales, pre-performance communication.
- Create and design teacher curriculum materials.
- Spotlight on Opera
- Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of Tulsa Opera’s summer training program including summer touring show.
- General Artistic
- Maintain communication with Tulsa Opera’s artistic partners.
- May occasionally assist the Artistic Director and Artistic Administrator in the creation and implementation of new artistic programs.
- General Education
- Maintain communication with Tulsa Opera’s education partners.
- Administratively organize and oversee Student Night or Student Matinee performances of mainstage operas.
- Assist Artistic Director with the creation and implementation of new educational programs.

- Community Events
- Represent Tulsa Opera at community events and performances based on scheduling needs. Accurately record qualitative and quantitative data from events.
- Support the Director of Community Engagement with the implementation of new community programming.
- Aria Yoga
- Create opera playlists for the all-levels yoga class.
- Provide staff coverage for the event including setting up sound equipment and promoting Opera events based on scheduling needs.
- Songs by Heart
- Maintain artists’ schedule for the program, coordinating session coverage when artists have illness or scheduling conflicts.
- Complete quarterly check-ins on artists performing in sessions for vocal coaching needs.
- Collaborate with Director of Community Engagement on training needs for the Songs by Heart artists.
- Assist with the administration of the program to encourage reach and growth.
- Volunteer Corps
- Coordinate monthly volunteer workdays, confirming volunteer attendance, organizing tasks from staff members, assigning volunteer jobs, preparing hospitality and workspace, and monitoring participation for any issues.
- Onboard new volunteers to the Volunteer Corps.
- Work with the Director of Community Engagement to assess the program and make recommendations to improvements for the ongoing engagement of the volunteers.
- With the Director of Community Engagement, design and implement a Volunteer Appreciation Week every April.
- Engagement Marketing and Promotion
- Prepare promotional materials for distribution at Engagement department events.
- With the Director of Community Engagement, plan and implement promotion of Engagement department events.
- Create Aria Yoga email and social media campaigns for weekly/monthly distribution.
- Collaborate with the Marketing department to keep Engagement website pages and program book updated.
- Audience Engagement
- Coordinate venue, speaker, and audio/visual needs for Pre-Show Talks.
- Assist with the planning and execution of Opera Echoes, an annual panel discussion relating an opera production to contemporary issues.
- Provide support to audience enrichment which may include pre-show panels, post-show talkbacks, accessibility accommodations, lobby activation, etc.
- Promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and arts accessibility in all programming.
- Community Events
- While much work and planning will happen during business hours, events will regularly require weekend and evening hours as well as travel throughout the region. In addition, the Education and Engagement Manager will be expected to work until as late as 9:00pm every Tuesday.

- Artistic and Education
Required Skills:
- A background in music education.
- Experience leading musical (particularly vocal) ensembles of all ages, including repertoire selection, basic musical instruction, and conducting rehearsals.
- Ability to establish priorities and multitask, with strong organizational and creative problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently to identify and complete tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with a wide range of personalities.
- Knowledge of computerized information systems and their applications, including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Office. Familiarity with music notation software, Canva, and/or Tessitura is an advantage.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Minimum education required: Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Skills:
While these skills are strongly preferred, they are not required for application.
- Piano proficiency.
- Choral conducting experience.
- Experience with marketing, graphic design, and/or photography.
- Candidates proficient in Spanish are encouraged to apply.
