Tulsa Opera Outreach celebrates spring and upcoming production Into the Woods.

Tulsa Opera’s newly launched Songs by Heart program will be presenting interactive sing-alongs in memory care units throughout the Tulsa Area. In tandem with this program, we bring our Traveling Voices to retirement communities for opera concerts. On Monday, April 10th the Filstrup Resident Artists performed in the beautiful courtyard at Montereau Retirement Community. We enjoyed the lovely afternoon of opera music with their community members, family and friends! And there’s more to come!

The Guild of Tulsa Opera is a vital club offering educational events prior to the mainstage shows. In a new partnership with the Tuesday Book Club, TGOTO’s president Marlene McAllister will present a book review of RL McLaughlin’s Stephen Sondheim and the Reinvention of the American Musical complete with musical performances from Into the Woods. The event on Tuesday, April 11th is open to current members of TGOTO or Tuesday Book Club. To become a member of TGOTO, register on their website or contact VP of Membership Clara Murphree.

Tulsa Opera will be participating in Oklahoma for the Art’s Arts & Culture Day at the state capitol. Tuesday, April 18th is the ONLY arts advocacy event in Oklahoma. The Filstrup Resident Artists will have a performance slot along with other artists from across the state. The day consists of advocacy training, learning about legislative issues, connecting with legislators, and ultimately celebrating the importance of art and culture in Oklahoma.

Tulsa Opera values our community partners, and our Traveling Voices program is proud to perform at nonprofit fundraising events. This April we are supporting Volunteer’s of America at Volute, their gala on Friday, April 21st at Cox Business Convention Center at 6pm. Tickets are still available! A week later, we’re excited to be a part of Petra Kids Ministry’s Mara Gen (Love & Hope) Concert and perform along with the International African Children’s Choir.
