Today’s Staying Alive video features tenor Aaron Blake singing “Spring Waters” by Sergei Rachmaninoff. He is accompanied by Lyndon Meyer on the piano.
Rachmaninoff dedicated “Spring Waters,” part of his 12 Romances, Op. 14, to Anna Ornatskaya, his music teacher. This composition is one of Rachmaninoff’s most popular songs and has been widely performed since he wrote it more than a hundred years ago.
Blake made his company debut as Nadir in the 2016 production of Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers. He was last seen on the Tulsa stage in 2018, when he sang the role of Count Almaviva in Tulsa Opera’s production of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville.
