The fifth video in our Staying Alive series features bass Andrew Potter singing the role of Emmeline’s father in Tobias Picker’s Emmeline.
Twenty years have passed, and Emmeline is unmarried and living with her parents. In this scene, her father urges Emmeline to marry Simon Fenton, a rich widower and local business owner, but Emmeline declares that she will never marry.
Emmeline is then introduced to Matthew Gurney, a young railroad worker and new boarder who has come to live at their house.
In the video, Potter’s wife, Megan Rose Potter, plays the role of Emmeline. They are accompanied by Lyndon Meyer on the piano.
