This week’s Staying Alive video features tenor Chris Mosz singing “Lonely House” from Street Scene by Kurt Weill. He is accompanied by Lyndon Meyer.
Mosz is a native Tulsan and a former member of Tulsa Youth Opera. His very first performance with Tulsa Opera was as part of the Children’s Chorus in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci in 2005, when he was 12 years old. He was last seen on the Tulsa stage in 2016, when he sang the role of the Young Collector in A Streetcar Named Desire.
We are thrilled to welcome Chris Mosz back to Tulsa as a Filstrup Resident Artist for the 2020-2021 season! He will be joining us on the main stage and performing in outreach events throughout the Tulsa area.
Street Scene was written in 1946, with music by Kurt Weill and libretto by Langston Hughes. “Lonely House” is a song from the first act of the opera, sung by Sam Kaplan about his feelings of crippling loneliness and social isolation while living in the city.
