The fourteenth video in our Staying Alive series features soprano Alyssa Jackson singing “How Beautiful It Is” from Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw. She is accompanied by Lyndon Meyer on the piano.
In this scene, the Governess sings happily about her new job and the two darling children in her care. She is no longer bothered by her initial fears or the mysterious letter from Miles’ school. Suddenly, the Governess sees the figure of an unknown man on the tower. She wonders who it could be and is unsettled by the experience.
Jackson was last seen on the Tulsa Opera stage in our 2018 production of The Barber of Seville, where she made her operatic debut as Berta, Dr. Bartolo’s housekeeper.
