Today’s Staying Alive video features Filstrup Resident Artist and soprano Karlye Whitt singing “Deh vieni, non tardar” (“Oh come, don’t delay”) from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. She is accompanied by Lyndon Meyer on the piano.
In this aria, Susanna teases Figaro by singing a love song to her “beloved” (the Count) while Figaro eavesdrops. Figaro, hiding behind a bush, falls for the ruse and becomes increasingly jealous.
Karlye Whitt made her role and operatic debut with Tulsa Opera as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in 2019. This month, she would have made her role debut as Sophie in Tobias Picker’s Emmeline.
